Importer Operations Platform for Inventory, Marketplace Sync, Fulfillment, and Dealer Ordering

A US importer of industrial and DIY durables running stores, marketplaces, a warehouse and a dealer network needed one operations platform instead of a stack that agreed with itself only when somebody checked.

What the system does.

Centralized

Stores, locations and stock on one platform

Automated

Marketplace order sync and label generation

Connected

Receiving, returns and invoicing in one flow

The engagement

What brought this engagement together.

The business sells the same catalogue through its own stores, through Amazon and eBay, and to dealers and distributors buying against purchase orders. Each channel had its own view of stock, its own order path, and its own way of being wrong. The platform had to hold one SKU master that every channel resolved against, and had to keep working while the business kept selling.

The challenge

What needed solving.

Stock, orders and returns were true in more than one place at a time. Marketplace listings drifted from what the warehouse actually held, custom products entered the catalogue under whatever SKU the person typing had in mind, returns settled without ever landing back in a warehouse location, and dealer orders arrived outside the system entirely. Every reconciliation was manual and every mistake was found downstream.

The approach

How we approached it.

We built the operations platform end to end: store and store-location modules with member-level access, a SKU master enforced on custom products, inbound receiving with settlement, a settle-return workflow that allocates back to a warehouse and location, Amazon and eBay authorization, webhooks and order sync, a carrier module with PDF shipment labels and bulk label printing, supplemental invoicing, and dealer and distributor ordering against a purchase-order number.

The build

What we built.

  • Store and store-location modules
  • Member-level access control across stores
  • SKU master enforced on custom products
  • Inbound receiving with settlement
  • Settle-return workflow with warehouse and location allocation
  • Amazon authorization and order sync
  • eBay authorization and order sync
  • Marketplace webhook infrastructure
  • Carrier module with PDF shipment labels
  • Bulk label printing
  • Supplemental invoicing
  • Dealer and distributor ordering against a purchase-order number
Capabilities

System highlights.

The parts that are not obvious from the build list — what the system does, rather than what was delivered.

What the system does differently

One SKU master every channel resolves against

Token handling and reauthorization for both marketplaces

Returns that land in a specific bin, not a general pile

Purchase-order ordering for the dealer network

Fulfillment operated in bulk rather than order by order

The outcome

What changed.

  • Stores, marketplaces and the warehouse resolve stock against one SKU master rather than three views of it.
  • Returns settle back to a named warehouse location instead of leaving a gap between what was refunded and what was restocked.
  • Marketplace orders arrive through webhooks rather than being fetched and reconciled by hand.
  • Shipping labels are generated and printed in bulk from the same records the orders live in.
  • The dealer network orders against purchase numbers inside the system instead of alongside it.
